Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity

Skydive For Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity!

Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet – the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go – falling forward into the clouds, skydiving down through the air as you start free falling at over 120mph.

Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity needs you!

Every day, someone in Yorkshire and Humber is told that they have a brain tumour.

Brain tumours affect all ages and, regrettably, the lack of funding and research into the treatment of aggressive malignant brain tumours means survival rates are no better than they were 40 years ago. Brain tumours have recently overtaken leukaemia as the most common malignancy and cause of death in people under 40, and the cure rate for most brain tumours is significantly lower than that for most other types of cancer.

Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity wants to change these statistics.

We exist to fund research and support all brain tumour patients and their families, across Yorkshire. Brain tumours are indiscriminate, regardless of who you are, where you live and how old you are.

The after-effects of brain surgery or other treatment, whether the tumour is benign or malignant, can leave people with life-changing symptoms.

Someone recently described their brain tumour diagnosis and subsequent treatment as “it literally turned my world upside down. Work, driving, family life, mood, mobility, memory, independence, everything changed. We had to adapt to the new normal.”

We want every Yorkshire family that has been affected by a brain tumour to know that they can access our services, if they need them. Our support ranges from information, advice and guidance, to counselling and massage therapy. We also run support groups for patients and their families and provide grants in special circumstances.

Without Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity there would be no brain tumour research lab in Leeds. We love to get behind brilliant scientists to initiate innovation and provide hope that together we will cure brain tumours.

We are delighted to be working directly with Skydive GB Parachute Club at Bridlington Airfield on this event.
